On July 28, 2025, the Red Wing City Council voted to install ALPR (Automated License Plate Reader) systems in Red Wing. Starting July 27, 2026 they are being installed.
While it is important to note that they are using Axon equipment, and not Flock, this is a clear violation of citizen rights against unreasonable search and seizure.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
